MEA Hosts MTA Legislative Assembly at MHS

On Tuesday, March 28th at 4pm, the MTA will be sponsoring a Q & A session at the Marshfield High School Presentation Center featuring 6-7 of our local legislators. This session will focus on education issues, and is a terrific opportunity to hear what our representatives have to say about issues that are of significant interest to us. ALL faculty and staff are welcome to attend, and we will have educators from across the South Shore in attendance. The more we can “pack the house”, so to speak, the more our State Congress members will get the message that teachers are politically engaged and need to be listened to. Our decisive victory on Question 2 last November certainly got their attention, and this is another opportunity to keep it! Here is the anticipated lineup:

Rep – Thomas Calter (Duxbury, Halifax, Kingston, Middleboro, Plymouth, Plympton)
Rep – James Cantwell (Marshfield & Scituate)
Rep – Josh Cutler (Duxbury, Hanson, Pembroke)
Rep – David DeCoste (Hanover, Norwell, Rockland)
Rep – Joan Meschino (Cohasset, Hingham, Hull, Scituate)
Rep – James Murphy (Hingham & Weymouth)
Senator – Patrick O’Connor (Cohasset, Duxbury, Hingham, Hull, Marshfield, Norwell, Scituate, Weymouth)

Educators of Marshfield, please take an hour or 2 out of your day on Tuesday 3/28 to pack our Presentation Center and show our elected officials that we care about our students and our profession, and that we are paying very close attention to how the votes of our legislators impact our students! This is an awesome opportunity to get to know your local reps and perhaps even ask them a question. Let’s maintain our enthusiasm and our vigilance in the face of this hostile political climate! If we do so the schools of Massachusetts, as well as our profession, will be even stronger 4 years from now! There is no need to let me know if you’ll be in attendance, simply show up…We look forward to seeing many of you at Marshfield High School on March 28th.
